X Block Blog Hop

So happy to join you all today with a fun project suggested by Doris of Quilting Queen Online the new owner of X Blocks templates and Amy of Sew Incredibly Crazy.  We were given the opportunity to work with the amazing Block X templates and patterns to make a fun quilt.

I used the Pocketful of Posies Pattern  without the suggested border and the 7 1/2" X blocks Template.  It made a kind of elongated petal effect with the way they are joined.

I used Kona School Bus and Kaufman Quilter's Linen in Navy and Royal Blue with a Vanilla Grunge background.

I love the graphic effect and I think a baby will enjoy looking at this quilt as much as snuggling into it!  :)

Thanks Doris and Amy for letting me play along with this project today!

Please make sure to visit the others and see all the wonderful creations in this fun hop!

Life Challenges and Friends Who Help You Through Them

I am very fortunate that through the years of blogging I have made many good internet friends.  It is why I continue to post this blog though lately I have been MIA.   I know many of us have never physically met and have to satisfy ourselves with email and blogs and Instagram posts but you are all the kindest, most generous souls and I feel I really do "know" many of you.

I am especially grateful for these connections recently for I have embarked on a journey dealing with some health issues though, thankfully, I have been given a very good prognosis. Many with cards, pretty fabric gifts and such caring emails, a most wonderful pillow, a stunning quilt...have shown me that faith, friends and family are really important to a positive and healing path.  The Lord has me in His hands and shows me His love through the loving care of these important people to me.

A couple of these beautiful little sunshine and joy packages:
A healing Angel from my friend Shelly...

The most beautiful package of Dutch Petra Prins fabrics from my friend Doreen...

This lovely and oh-so perfect pillow which pretty much encapsulates many of my quilting loves from my friend Patty...
Here it is on my couch Patty :)

A beautiful pre-filled sewing bag and caddy from my husband's aunt, an aunt of my heart if not by blood, Sharon...

A gift from my Aunt Jan which is a progressive one enticing me with all the pretty wrappings...

And this stunning quilt from my friend Colette that came wrapped in such love I just sat in a puddle for a bit after receiving it.
So many people have touched my life the last month and a half, many from church with gifts of food (thank you Cheryl and Shari and Debbie) and flowers and prayer and counsel as well as those in my family and friends with their support in so many ways.

Thanks to all for your well-wishes and prayers and support.  I love you all.

30 Blocks in 30 Days Blog Hop with Creatin' In The Sticks

Welcome to my day and the block featured is Broken Cinder Block!  Thanks to Carla at Creatin' in the Sticks for letting me play along :)  You can find the pattern for today's block here: https://createinthesticks.blogspot.com/

I chose to make a baby quilt using this pattern with a layer cake and a bit of background yardage...

Sorry it isn't a great picture the wind was horrible and the sun was hiding when I was trying to take this!!

I almost like the back as much as the front...I used all the extra 10 inch squares from the layer cake to make a pretty and scrappy backing.

Please visit all the other participants in this fun hop!!

Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop

Welcome to my day for the Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop.  Many thanks to Carol for hosting this fun show and tell :)  I have deviated a bit from my normal quilty projects for this one as the directions were to make something small.  I toyed with the idea of making a bag but a few things stepped in my way this last month which prevented that from happening so I thought I would share a Punch Needle Rug project I played with this last month to open up my creativity...

 This is the front side...

(Normally rug hookers would consider this the front side but with this design's use of thin stems, it is the back in this case.)

I loved the pattern by AROUNNA KHOUNNORAJ and the wool and wool blend yarns were beautiful to punch with :)  I am a fan of the oxford punch needle and think it was much easy and faster than the rug hooking I have tried before.  This designer sees this side as the finished but rug hookers would typically use the other side.  This design with it's thin stems is easier to see with this thickness of yarn on the "reverse" side from normal.  It is hanging in my quilt room enjoying a place of honor among my minis.

This is the February box for https://thecraftersbox.com/ .  I have never tried a subscription box before but this one struck me as different as you get a pile o' supplies and a video instruction for something different in the Art world.  I am pretty stuck on quilting as my game so it was good to step out and try something new.  This is not really an advertisement for them as I am not an affiliate or anything, just a customer -but I was pleased with this box and love the fact that I got to try something new :)

Thanks for joining me today and...

Here is the schedule for today as well as for the rest of the hop, please be sure to visit all these fine folks!!
